Decisions & responsibilities
Hotels, Cafeterias, shops & houses will have to pay against waste collection service & if refused, the city council will deal with them. (Mayor)
A guaranteed land for separating the waste & to prepare recycable waste such as plastic, pappers & tins. (guaranteed by the Mayor)
To aware the residents of Dahab to separate organic / non organic waste. (Guro, Sandra & Sherihan)
Increasing number of Labors.(Eng. Sherif)
Signing contracts with the hotels for waste collection & handling. (Mrs. Sherif)
To organize the time for waste collection. (not specified yet)(Hemaya)
Waste collection campaign. (started the very next day (Hemaya)).
El Asala truck. (the truck for the mission is not qualified)
Plastic bags will be forbiden in South Sinai by the end of 2008.(Governor decision)
Construction waste will be reported to the Environment Sector at the city council & the responsible for the penality will pay a great fine.(Environment sector)
Dead animals to be reported to the environment sector at the city council.(Environment sector)
Different timing to collect shops waste & shops should not use the same bins as individuals.(Hemaya & Environment Sector)
Hire some bedouin ladies to separate organic/solid waste as to give them the organic waste for their animals & a monthly salary.(Hemaya & the bedouins reps)
Other important informations
Hemaya is an NGO, they do not make business or money out of the waste collection, any extra money not spent in the waste collection purposes will be used to develope Dahab.
The solid waste is compressed & sold by Hemaya & the money is devided half to the labors of Hemaya & half to the NGO which is invested back in the waste collection procedure.
The organic waste is given to the animals.
Hemaya did & doing a great job in Taba, Nweiba & St. Catherine.
Hemaya is doing other projects to surve the Bedouin & South Sinai community.
If All parties (Governmant, Hemaya & the community) work together, the Garbage collection system will reach an ideal situation.
